Elks to serve free Christmas dinner

Jefferson Elks Lodge #2306 will once again serve a annual free dinner on Christmas Day at 4 pm at the lodge.

The Elks have provided this service for 56 years. The public is invited, but the Elks ask for guests to call the lodge and make a reservation for the number of those who will be attending. Reservations should be made by Dec. 23 by calling 515-386-2106. If no one is available, please leave a message.

Reservations should also be made for take-out meals that will be available for those who do not wish to dine in or meals may be delivered to those who are unable to get out and attend. “This meal is for anyone who doesn’t have special plans for the day and would like to come and join us in celebrating Christ’s birthday” said Bill Berger, Elks exalted ruler.

Hams are provided by Fareway and turkeys are being provided by HyVee.

The meal will include turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, roll and pumpkin pies provided by Jefferson Does Drove #196 and the Elks.
